The way Pinterest works, is you first create a board. A board is the place where you “pin” your inspiration. Next, you pick a subcategory for your board. There are over 30 subcategories to choose from, ranging from weddings to holidays. After choosing a subcategory, you are free to start pinning! This is an example of a board from my personal Pinterest account.
As you can see, my board is labeled “Dorm Life” and my subcategory is “home décor.” On this board, I gather ideas and concepts that I want to implement in my dorm room.
First, we (the people behind the Hero Project) can pick people within our community that we feel are heroes. We can post their stories using pictures on Pinterest, and have the public decide whom they want to hear more about.
Secondly, each journalist involved in the Hero Project can have their own board where they convey more about themselves and who their heroes are. This allows the public to learn more about each journalist involved in the project.
Thirdly, have a board dedicated to all the heroes the project uncovers. This could create a really cool visual effect displaying all the heroes within our community.
